Bicycle tour across Lithuania with guide in 8 days
An original approach to discovering Lithuania. The main resources of Lithuania are its amazing nature, rich culture and unique people. During the tour, you will get acquainted with the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, known as the Baroque pearl of Europe, Dzukija National Park, which is home to more than four thousand species of fauna and flora, and Klaipeda region, with its endless fields and breath-taking Curonian Spit.
Overall distance travelled: 218 miles on a bus, 167 miles cycling, 9 miles on a ship.
This tour includes guide/tour leader during the whole trip, luggage transfers and transfers by public transportation.
Day 1. Arrival in Vilnius
Arrival in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Meeting the tour guide. An overnight stay in Vilnius.
Day 2. Vilnius-Trakai-Druskininkai
We start the day with a guided tour around the Old Town of Vilnius. Vilnius is home to one of the largest old towns in Europe. It is listed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. After the tour, we take a bus trip to Trakai. In the XIVth century, Trakai was the capital of Lithuania and the main residence of its Grand Duke. It is home to a castle (currently a museum) surrounded by the Lake Galve. In Trakai, not only we will visit the castle and its museum, but also check out the local delicacy Kibinai – traditional pastries, popular with Karaite ethnic minority in Lithuania. After lunch, we will take a bus towards Druskininkai. Bike tour in Dzukija National PAN Park. Overnight stay in Druskininkai or around it.

Day 3. Druskininkai. Kayaking and cycling
We will spend the day in the Dzukija National PAN Park which is on the list of 13 most famous national parks in Europe. If we are in luck, here in the forest we can even spot the rare Black Grouse and Western Capercaillie. After a pleasant kayak sail, we will have a picnic in Marcinkonys, where we will try the national signature dishes of the Dzukija region. After the picnic, we will proceed on cycling through Dzukija National PAN park . An overnight stay in Druskininkai or around it.

Day 4. Druskininkai-Kaunas
After breakfast, we take a trip to the Grutas Park, located on the outskirts of Druskininkai. After Lithuania regained its independence, various Soviet statues were taken down and dumped in different places. One of the local businessmen requested the Lithuanian authorities to grant him the possession of the sculptures, so that he could build a privately financed museum. Currently, it is the only museum of the kind in the entire world. Next, we will head to Kaunas – the second largest city in Lithuania and home to a cosy old town, as well as a famous pedestrian promenade. Bike tour on the way there (35 miles). An overnight stay in Kaunas.

Day 5. Kaunas-Vente Cape-Nida
Today, our target destination is the Curonian Spit and Nida. In order to get there, we will take a bus all the way through the historical Klaipeda region along the banks of River Nemunas up to the Vente Cape. From Silute we will cycle until we reach Vente Cape. Vente Cape is home to the largest bird ringing station in Lithuania. Throughout the tour, we will learn a lot about bird ringing practices and scientific research in the field of bird migration. After lunch, we will get on a ship heading to Nida. An overnight stay in Nida.

Day 6. Nida-Klaipeda
An entire day spent riding a bicycle. At first, we will hop onto our bikes and ride to the summer residence of the famous Nobel prize-winning author Thomas Mann. Then we will leave Nida to get acquainted with the surrounding dunes, coastline and the best cycle track in Lithuania. On our way we will dedicate some time for a hearty picnic and a dip in the sea. Next, we will cross the waters on a small ferry to Klaipeda. An overnight stay in Klaipeda.

Day 7. Klaipeda-Palanga-Klaipeda
After breakfast, we will hop on our bikes and ride to Palanga. On our way there we will get to know Klaipeda. Onwards, we will cycle through the perfect cycle track to Palanga which goes along Seaside Regional Park. We will also reach Olando kepure. In Palanga, we will pay a visit to Amber museum, which is one the biggest amber museums in the world with unique exhibits. We will also visit Palanga’s bridge, afterwards we will pass the time in Basanavičius pedestrian alleyway. We will allocate time for dip in the sea. Afterwards, we will cycle back to Klaipeda. Overnight stay in Klaipeda.

Day 8. Klaipeda. Departure
